Took BHS Horseowners certificate level 1 in May 2013 with Kate I found the email course very easy to fit in round a busy lifestyle very informative and a really useful experience and a pleasure to do.Thankyou looking forward to level 2 .
Kate has been teaching me for two months now and I have learned so many new things already in the short amount of time. From learning how to plait to working on ways of getting me out of my habits when riding. She has been so patient with me and explained everything step by step so I understand what I am trying to achieve when learning new things. I have to say she has been the best instructor I have had in all the 6 years I have been riding and I would recommend her as she is so encouraging and supportive.
"Kate has been teaching me and my Highland pony Fergus for a couple of years whenever I need her help or just some encouragement or even just company. She always listens to me so that we work on whatever I think I need to but always then manages to stretch me into something new. I like the fact that she explains things to me – I like to know why something works and why the horse responds to the aids you give them.
Kate encouraged me to do dressage in particular Interdressage and we are enjoying getting so much out of our sessions. She definitely has that "something", because Fergus is always on his best behaviour when she comes to visit us! "
"A friend recommended having lessons with Kate after I had lost confidence in my ability. I had a few incidents whilst out hacking on my own and felt very nervous. We initially spent time working on my position. Bailey then responded to my aids positively as he knew what I was asking of him. I then had a secure seat, and my confidence returned. Kate is patient, kind and makes learning fun. I now have a renewed enthusiasm for my riding and am now busy practising for a dressage test."
When Kate is looking after Bailey I can always relax, safe in the knowledge he is being well cared for and to a high standard. We will always discuss requirements beforehand and I have always been more than satisfied with her service.
"As an adult returning to riding Kate is really encouraging without treating me like a child which is very important, she is equally good with children teaching them in an appropriate way. She has also assisted me with many aspects of horse care including, helping me to work out a feeding plan for both a fussy eater and for weight gain without excitability. Teaching me how to get my pony ready for a show, including plaiting manes and tails. Giving me practical no nonsense and where appropriate hands on advice for handling my youngster. She has also shown me how to manage ‘wounds’ and ‘injuries’ including stable bandaging."
"Kate Worked along side myself in 2004, schooling and re-schooling, teaching and carrying out general yard duties. Her extensive knowledge of the equestrian world was a great help to myself and my business. She has a great sense of humour and a refreshing outlook. Her attention to detail is second to none and her patience and calm temperament works well with both nervous riders and horses.
Her pony, Molly is a testament to her abilities. Molly was purchased as an underweight, under nourished, wild pony. She had had no handling, not even been groomed. She is now a beautiful little show pony . . . and all down to Kate"
"Kate has been training with me and my horses since 2007 in this time she has gained much confidence and has made vast improvements in her riding, groundwork and understanding, she is professional in her approach and has a good rapport with horses and implements everything asked of her. She treats all the horses with respect and is happy to be firm but fair if needed. "
